Happy Halloween

Halloween is right around the corner which means that children will soon be out trick-or-treating. Think safety when selecting a costume, walking from door-to-door and while driving through neighbourhoods. 

1. Drive Safety: Drive safely by taking extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs. Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully and be alert in residential neighbourhoods. 

   
   

2. Costume Safety: Keep costumes both creative and safe. Choose face paint and makeup whenever possible instead of masks, which can obstruct a child’s vision. When selecting a costume, make sure it is the right size to prevent trips and falls. 

3. Walk Safety: Walk safely by crossing the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there is no sidewalk, walk facing traffic. Watch for cars that are turning or backing up.
